\u201cIndia’s premier folk-fusion music festival\u201d, Paddy Fields packages and presents folk music from across the country to an audience weaned on Bollywood and international pop, rock and jazz music. It\u2019s a festival where, the organisers say, music lovers discover traditional music they\u2019ve never heard before and watch well-known musicians perform sets they’ve never played before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each year, the performances at Paddy Fields are based on a theme. The 2017 instalment had an all-female line-up; the 2018 event comprised collaborations between Indian folk and classical musicians; and the 2019 one paid tribute to legendary composers, songwriters and singers. Over the years, composers and singers such as Amit Trivedi, Salim-Sulaiman, Sona Mohapatra and Sukhwinder Singh have headlined Paddy Fields, which has spotlighted folk and classical music artists from Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The festival, which was held from 2016 through 2019, did not take place in 2020 and 2021 owing to the pandemic. It returned in 2022 and was held between 15 and 16 October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
