French cellist Gauthier Herrmann and the National Centre for the Performing Arts launched the bi-annual Artie’s Festival in 2008 to bring together acclaimed musicians from Europe who share \u201ca common passion for chamber music\u201d and the aim of making it \u201caccessible to everyone\u201d. In 2014, Herrmann formed the Artie’s Chamber Orchestra, which performs symphonic music specially arranged for a chamber orchestra. Over the years, the orchestra has created a niche for itself by playing chamber reductions for large orchestral works. By playing masterworks with limited forces, it has introduced them to a wider audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Artie’s Festival, after having returned to India post a two-and-a-half-year break for its 25th edition, have showcased performances by French instrumentalists, violinist Cyprien Brod and pianist Romain Descharmes, along with artistic director Herrmann. The event presented compositions by such Western classical music greats as Beethoven, Brahms, Chausson, Grieg and Sarasate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
