The Bookaroo Children's Literature Festival is a children's literary festival that brings books, stories and creative activities to young readers. Organised by the Bookaroo Trust, the festival aims to encourage reading for pleasure and make literature accessible to children through interactive sessions with authors, illustrators, storytellers and other practitioners in children's literature.
Bookaroo first came to Srinagar in 2011, making it the first city outside Delhi to host the festival. The Srinagar edition has been hosted by the DP Dhar Memorial Trust since its arrival in the city. The festival has travelled to 18 cities across three countries and completed 54 editions before its 2026 edition.
The eighth Srinagar edition, and the festival's 55th edition overall, takes place on 1 November 2026 as a one-day event. Eleven speakers from eight Indian cities will lead 20 sessions, including storytelling, book readings, craft activities, doodling and poetry. The programme is designed for children aged 4 to 14. The festival is non-ticketed and promotes inclusive access to books, reading and literary experiences for children.

1. Pack heavy layers for Srinagar’s early winter weather, where cold conditions begin returning through mornings and evenings.
2. Boots are especially useful for handling chilly terrain and colder outdoor conditions comfortably.
3. Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated during long days of sightseeing and travel.
4. Carry cash as many smaller shops, street vendors, and local eateries may not accept cards.
