Started in 2019, the F of X Festival is a four-day, invite-only residential festival held inside Jim Corbett National Park. F of X is named after the mathematical term ‘function of x’ or ‘f(x)’, and is designed to help creative professionals identify “their ‘x’” or that “one variable that makes life feel more meaningful, happy and purposeful”. It is a space for the audience to “exchange perspectives, find collaborators and grow creatively” in the fields of art, music, design, fashion, film, food, photography and tech.
Among F of X’s distinguishing factors is the absence of demarcation between the speakers and the attendees who mingle and converse with each other through the event. Talks and workshops are conducted during the day and concerts and open mics are held in the evenings. The venue is divided into four zones, the Heart, the Mind, the Hand and the Soul, named after the elements the organisers (The Experience Co.) believe need to be in alignment for each creative person to thrive. The Heart zone is where speakers share their inspiring journeys. The Mind zone is where they provide industry insights and hacks. The Hand zone is a spot for art and craft workshops. The Soul zone is where participants engage in yoga, meditation and movement therapy sessions.
Artist Raghava K. K., cinematographer Jay Oza, journalist Rega Jha, poet Aranya Johar and the independent music acts Lifafa and When Chai Met Toast were among the speakers and performers at its two editions so far. The festival, which did not take place in 2021 and 2022 owing to the pandemic is slated to return in 2023.
