    Hornbill Festival
    1 Dec 2024  to  10 Dec 2024

Hornbill Festival is a ten day event that seeks to showcase Nagaland’s rich cultural heritage and traditions in all their glory. Established in 2000, the festival has since come to be popularly known as the “festival of festivals”. A unique event, it offers a peek into the cultural diversity of not only the Naga people, but all the north-eastern states of India.

The festival typically includes a host of different events ranging from cultural performances by Naga tribes to adventure sports like mountain-biking and day-hikes through the Dzukou Valley. Food festivals showcase local cuisine and include competitive eating events such as the “Naga King Chilly & Pineapple Eating Competition”.

Organised by Nagaland Tourism together with the Government of Nagaland, Hornbill also showcases art and craft exhibitions. Indigenous handicrafts, games and sports are also featured in the ten-day cultural celebration. Other events that have been featured at the festival include World War II rallies, rock concerts, and a “Bamboo Carnival”.

Some of the musical acts that have performed at previous editions of the festival include Temsu Clover and Band, Nagaland Collective, Run Monday Run, Cotton Country and Fifth Note. The 2022 edition saw performances by artists including the Andrea Tariang Band, Ugen Bhutia, Kediriale Lheilung and Kekhrie Ringa.
