Japanese Film Festival (JFF) – a project of the Japan Foundation – is created with the aim to share the excitement of Japanese cinema with the world. Since its introduction in India in 2017, JFF has captivated audiences. JFF Online was launched in 2020, during the pandemic, so that film enthusiasts could continue to enjoy Japanese films from the comfort of their homes. Due to the success of the online edition, the Japan Foundation decided to continue hosting such events post-pandemic. The 2024 edition of this festival is available from 05 June to 03 July 2024, including a lineup of 23 films (available till 19 June). For the first time ever, two popular Japanese TV dramas (available till 03 July 8:30AM). The festival is free for all and will be available with English subtitles on the JFF official website, on registering a free account.
JFFO will feature 2 blockbuster Japanese TV Dramas. Downtown Rocket is a feel-good drama about a small factory president and his employees struggling to protect their company while maintaining their pride as engineers. RIKUOH tells an exhilarating story about a “tabi” (Japanese traditional socks) manufacturer’s rise to the challenge of developing running shoes. These popular TV dramas tell moving stories about the diligence of hardworking people chasing big dreams. Both dramas share the same director and writer. Their original screenplays have been written by IKEIDO Jun, one of the most renowned fiction writers of Japan.
