This weekend-long festival, at Barnawa Jageer village in the Barmer district, showcases the history and traditions of the Langa community of folk musicians from west Rajasthan. It is part of a collaborative initiative of the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan and UNESCO to strengthen the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the region.
Attendees were able watch the artists perform, interact with them and learn about their music. A concert featuring Langa legends such as Sindhi sarangi players Asin Khan and Samsu Khan and singers Askar Khan, Bacchu Khan, Meheruddin Langa, Nek Mohammad, Sadiq Khan and Sardar Khan, was staged at the festival.

How to reach Barnawa Jageer
Barnawa Jageer can be reached from both Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. From Jodhpur, it takes roughly two-and-a-half hours to reach the village by car, whereas from Jaisalmer it takes approximately four hours by car.
How to reach Jodhpur
1. By Air: Jodhpur has its own domestic airport, which is located around 5 km from the city centre. Flights from New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Udaipur and other important Indian cities serve Jodhpur on a daily basis. Cabs and autos are available outside the airport and can be hired to travel to any part of the city.
2. By Rail: Trains from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Jaipur and several other cities serve the city of Jodhpur. Apart from regular express and mail trains, the luxurious Palace on Wheels also caters to Jodhpur city. Many local taxis are available outside the station, which can be availed to travel to any part of the city.
3. By Road: Direct buses from New Delhi and Jaipur make road connectivity with Jodhpur convenient. Government-run Volvo coaches as well as numerous private deluxe and luxury buses are available in this route. The road condition of Jodhpur Highway is quite good and therefore buses can be availed in this route.

How to reach Jaisalmer
1. By Air: Jaisalmer is not directly connected by air with any part of India. Jodhpur Airport, located about 300 km away from Jaisalmer, is the nearest airport to the desert land. The airport connects Rajasthan with all major Indian cities. From Jodhpur Airport, tourists can hire cabs to reach Jaisalmer.
2. By Rail: Jaisalmer is served by both broad gauge and metre gauge railway tracks. It can be reached through direct trains from New Delhi, Jaipur and Jodhpur. The luxury train ‘Palace on Wheels’ is also available. Upon reaching the station, visitors can avail of auto-rickshaws and private taxis to reach their destinations.
3. By Road: Jaisalmer has a well-maintained network of roadways. Deluxe and ordinary buses of Rajasthan Roadways and many private operators connect Jaisalmer with Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Barmer and Mount Abu.
