The Mahindra Kabira Festival is an annual music and cultural festival held in Varanasi, centred on the philosophy and poetry of the 15th-century mystic Kabir. Hosted along the banks of the Ganga, the festival has been presented annually for nearly a decade, with the upcoming 10th edition continuing its winter schedule.
The festival’s line-up features a range of classical and folk music performances, alongside talks, art demonstrations, and storytelling sessions. Previous editions have included artists such as Prahlad Singh Tipaniya, Mukhtiyar Ali, Aruna Sairam, Indian Ocean, Shubha Mudgal, Kailash Kher, Kabir Cafe, and Malini Awasthi, among others.
In addition to stage performances, the programme includes heritage walks, boat rides on the Ganga, local food experiences, and visits to the city’s ghats, including the Ganga Aarti. Sessions are spread across venues in Varanasi, integrating music and discourse with the city’s cultural landscape.
Through its programming, the Mahindra Kabira Festival brings together artists, scholars, and audiences to engage with Kabir’s teachings, while situating them within contemporary cultural practice.
