    Remembering Veenapani Festival
    13 Apr 2025  to  19 Apr 2025

Remembering Veenapani Festival is an annual event in remembrance of Veenapani Chawla, the founder of Adishakti Laboratory for Theatre Art Research, where performers from across the country come together to commemorate her life and work.

Launched in 2015, Remembering Veenapani Festival is Adishakti’s way of continuing, disseminating and expanding the work and vision of the founder. Remembering Veenapani, which could not take place in 2020 and 2021 owing to the pandemic, returned in April 2022 for a month-long 40th anniversary celebration of Adishakti, which was founded in 1981.

The ninth edition of the Remembering Veenapani Festival was held between 05 and 13 April 2023 at Adishakti Theatre. Highlights at the festival included an interactive session called Adishakti Gupshup that gave a glimpse into the creative journeys behind each show, an inaugural performance called “Women, Sexuality and Song” by Hindustani vocalist Shubha Mudgal, a solo performance called “Notion(s): In Between You and Me” by theatre actor Savita Rani, an interactive performance called “A Lullaby to Wake up” by Aditya Rawat, concerts by Hindustani vocalist Siddhartha Belmannu and Tenma’s Kootali band and much more.
