Short + Sweet Theatre is the world’s largest festival of ten-minute theatre. Founded in Australia in 2002, it has since grown into a global movement, held annually across seven countries and 30 cities — including Chennai.
The festival provides a platform for actors, writers, and directors to create bold new work in a professional and collaborative environment. It is also a space where established practitioners share their craft with emerging talent, strengthening networks within the theatre community.
By presenting a diverse lineup of short plays, the festival seeks to develop new audiences for theatre in India while encouraging more people to write for the stage. In doing so, Short + Sweet plays a vital role in fostering new playwrights, performers, and theatre-makers, ensuring that the art form continues to evolve and thrive.
