    Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet

    The Tata SteelKolkata Literary Meet, launched in 2012, celebrates literature and allied cultural pursuits such as dance, music and theatre. The events include talks, discussions, workshops, book launches, plays, dance recitals and music concerts. The festival, which usually takes place in January, hosts several eminent speakers and performers from across India and the world, making it an integral part of not just Kolkata's but the country’s annual cultural calendar.

    The list of authors includes Nobel laureates such as Abhijit Banerjee and Venky Ramakrishnan, Booker Prize winners such as Paul Beatty and Yann Martel, and other luminaries such as Ruskin Bond, Andre Aciman, Amitav Ghosh and Ramachandra Guha. Theatre actors Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and Vinay Pathak; Hindustani classical musicians Amjad Ali Khan, Shujaat Khan and Rashid Khan; and Indian classical dancers Mallika Sarabhai and Aditi Mangaldas have performed at the Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet over the years.

    How To Get There

    How to Reach Kolkata

    1. By Air: The Kolkata international airport, better known as the Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, is located at Dumdum. It connects Kolkata with all the major cities of the country as well as the world.

    2. By Rail: The Howrah and Sealdah railway stations are the two major railheads situated in the city. Both these stations are well connected to all the important cities in the country.

    3. By Road: The West Bengal state buses and various private buses travel to and from different parts of the country at a reasonable cost. Some places near Kolkata are Sunderbans (112 km), Puri (495 km), Konark (571 km) and Darjeeling (624km).
