Seraikela Chhau Festival
Seraikela Chhau Festival
The Seraikela Chhau is a graceful masked dance tradition from Jharkhand, known for its martial roots, stylised movements, and expressive storytelling through body language rather than facial expressions. With deep ties to the Natya Shastra and the 108 Karanas, it blends theatre, rhythm, and mythology into a powerful visual experience. On 04 July 2025, there will be a lecture-demonstration by Guru Malay Kumar Sahu, followed by a live performance by him and his ensemble on 05 July. It is open to all and offers a unique chance to witness the beauty and depth of one of India’s most refined folk traditions.
The Seraikela Chhau Festival will be held on 04 and 05July, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Kolkata Centre for Creativity, 4th Floor. For further details, write to [email protected].
