AHEAD Foundation (Art, Hope, Equality, Autonomy, Dialogue) is a Section-8 nonprofit that uses art, theatre, and participatory practices as tools for social transformation. Rooted in principles of dignity, care, and collective agency, AHEAD works with marginalized communities to create spaces for expression, dialogue, and leadership. Its approach blends artistic practice with pedagogy inspired by Theatre of the Oppressed, community care, and long-term relationship building—centering autonomy over charity and solidarity over saviourism.
Haan Hum (“Yes, We Are”) is AHEAD Foundation’s pioneering project and an all-women collective based in Kamathipura, Mumbai. It began in 2022 as a closed art and theatre workshop with sex workers and has since grown into a powerful collective of women artists who create theatre, visual art, clay work, zines, and public performances together. Haan Hum is a space where women claim voice, visibility, and joy—occupying public and cultural spaces as a right. Through regular workshops, residencies, and productions like the theatre piece 'Raasta' and the Kamathipura Kala Mela, the collective challenges stigma and reframes narratives.
