Launched in 2019 by a young enthusiast of the island, the Majuli Music Festival Foundation (MMFF) aims to preserve the rich traditional music, art and culture of Majuli, while encouraging people to explore its eco-diversity. The foundation also aims to promote research in music, particularly to understand how music is simultaneously being shaped by and shaping socio-cultural formations. The Majuli Music Festival Foundation has enabled the production of a world-class music festival with eminent musicians from India and the world. While promoting music across India, MMFF also undertakes social, economic and educational activities for the empowerment of the youth.
