The Department of Tourism became a full-fledged directorate in 1981. The primary focus of the department is the development of tourism in the state. Owing to their efforts, tourism in the state has shown a promising increase in recent years. In addition to Hornbill Festival, some of the other events organised by Nagaland Tourism include Peoples Festival Khezakeno and the Sekrenyi Festival.
