The idea of Festivals From India was germinated by collaborators The British Council and The Audience Agency. The British Council builds connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and other countries through arts and culture, education and the English language. Festivals From India was developed from a grant awarded in 2021-22 by British Council.

The Audience Agency is an independent not-for-profit based in the UK funded by the Arts Council England. Their purpose is to enable cultural organisations to use data to increase their relevance, reach and resilience. Monitoring and Evaluation and audience insight for Festivals From India through its development in 2021-22 was led by The Audience Agency (UK).

From the UK, Jess Hellens from JDH Communications spearheaded the
    marketing strategy for the portal.
