    Behala Art Fest
    2 Feb 2023  to  5 Feb 2023

Behala Art Fest (BAF) is a curated, multidisciplinary art festival that enables artists from diverse backgrounds to connect and showcase art outside traditional gallery spaces. In 2020, a local club in Behala launched the festival with the backing of renowned visual artist Sanatan Dinda. Since then, the Behala Art Fest Committee has organised four successful editions of the festival, with the latest one held between 2 and 5 Feb 2023.

The festival explores different genres, from installation to performance art, to communicate with the common man and create community art. Over the years, more than 150 artists from various backgrounds and disciplines have participated in the festival. By providing a platform for artists to connect and collaborate, BAF creates a vibrant atmosphere that encourages expression, participation, interaction and dialogue with the audience. The festival transforms parking spaces, walls of homes, market spaces, rickshaw stands and walkways into display arenas for art, subverting the idea of art as an elitist preoccupation and making it more inclusive and accessible. This year's festival showcased over 50 artists, including Sanatan Dinda, Samindranath Majumdar, Debraj Goswami, Puspen Roy, Snehasis Maity, among others.

    Behala Art Fest Committee
Artist Sanatan Dinda and a group of ten art enthusiasts from different fields came together in 2020 to conceive the Behala Art Fest, with a single goal of revamping the streets with installations, photography, murals, and more. The Behala Art Fest Committee regularly holds workshops and talk shows and assists the people of the Sundarbans directly and through NGOs, thereby living up to their slogan, “art for people’s sake.” Belaha Art fest is the culmination of numerous discussions, brainstorming sessions, and informal ideations and talks among various sections of people in the city.
