    Khamrubu International Short Film Festival
    26 Feb 2022  to  27 Feb 2022

Launched in 2021, the Khamrubu International Short Film Festival "promotes and encourages independent short filmmakers". The festival screens fiction, documentary, animation and experimental shorts with a maximum length of 45 minutes. About 50 titles are shown during the event, at which awards are given for directing, acting, screenplay writing, cinematography, editing, art direction, make-up, sound and music. The dates for the third edition of the festival scheduled to be held in 2023, will be announced soon.

Organised by Swastikam, the festival is named after Khamrubu—the oral name for the people of Bodo Kachari Community of Assam. While the first two editions of the festival were held virtually, the third edition is set to be an in-person event. Film submissions as well as entry to the festival is free of cost.

Khambru is a grand celebration of filmmakers around the world. The festival seeks to understand the many challenges faced while developing a film and appreciates the hardwork and the unanimous effort of the various departments associated with a short film. Some of the notable works from past editions of the Khamrubu International Short Film Festival include Ticket by Abhik Das (winner of Best Short Film), Pinnacle by Vikram Jeet and Punarudaya by Sreemon Das (winner of Best Animation).
