One of the first events under the Festival Connections banner, this session featured industry experts from India and the UK who delved into best practices for audience development, developing and using audience data, ticketing strategies and long-term audience development.

About the event

In association with the Art X Company, Godrej India Culture Lab, and Arts and Culture Resources India, British Council India presented an engaging session on Audience Development Insights for the Arts in Bengaluru on 31 August 2020. Industry experts from India and the UK led these sessions as they delved into best practices for audience development, developing and using audience data, ticketing strategies and long-term audience development.

Sharing insights for this session were: Jonathan Goodacre, Senior Consultant, International, The Audience Agency – UK, Penny Mills, Chief Consulting Officer, The Audience Agency – UK, Babitha George, Partner, Quicksand and Co-Founder, Unbox Festival, Abhishek Madan, Head of Product, Paytm Insider, and Rashmi Dhanwani, Founder, the Art X Company. The event began with a webinar by British Council UK partners, The Audience Agency, which spoke about audience development principles. This was followed by Babitha George, who explained the process of understanding and working with the audience of Unbox. Abhishek Madan and Divya Galagali from Paytm Insider discussed how data could be used to support audience development efforts and strategies, apart from a whole host of tools and insights. Rashmi Dhanwani presented a couple of case studies from her work around long-term audience engagement and audience development efforts with the Piramal Art Foundation.

This event was held as part of the British Council’s Festival Connections in partnership with Arts and Culture Resources India (an Art X Company initiative), an annual programme of expertise, knowledge and networking between India and the UK.
