About National Book Trust, India
The National Book Trust (NBT) is an apex body established by the Government of India (Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education) in 1957. It has been organising the prestigious New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) as a part of book promotional activities, since the year of its launch. The National Book Trust aims to encourage the production of good literature in English, Hindi and other Indian languages and make such literature available at reasonable prices to the public. The NBT also brings out book catalogues, arranges book fairs/exhibitions and seminars, besides taking all necessary steps to inspire love for books in people. The organisation is also mandated to promote Indian literature abroad and participates in prominent international book fairs regularly. NBT has undertaken India as a “Guest of Honour Country” in the Havana International Book Fair in Cuba between 13 and 20 Feb 2015.
