About Kattaikkuttu Sangam

The Kattaikkuttu Sangam was established in 1990 under the leadership of Perungattur P. Rajagopal along with theatre scholar Dr. Hanne M. de Bruin and 15 actors and musicians. The sangam is committed to preserving and evolving the traditional Kattaikkuttu theater, ensuring its accessibility, sustainability and cultural significance for generations to come. As a democratically representative body, the Sangam works towards maintaining and developing Kattaikkuttu as a respected art form and a sustainable profession for its performers.
